Advanced Composition & School Schedule

Oh man do advanced composition classes suck!

I have already spent many hours doing research for this paper, and completed the first draft, but now my topic is not an analysis because I could not find appropriate sources and just had to write a paper from the sources that I had. So I have already talked to people at the library about my topic and they put me in touch with about 7 sources that might work for me. So now I am going to have to pretty much just rewrite my entire paper because it is essentially a whole different topic. It has to be an analysis of language, but the only sources I found dealt with gay-inclusiveness in education. So my paper stemmed off from there and FAILED.

No a better note, I think everyone wants that class to be over with, it's not just me. So I guess that makes me feel a little better.

What makes me feel even better, you ask? I may be going to Cuernavaca, Mexico with the school for like a mini-study abroad deal in the summer of 2011. Except it's probably going to cost around $4,000. My dad said he would help pay for it, though, and could probably give about 1/4 of the money. The other I can, hopefully, get in grants. Otherwise I'll be taking out a student loan to go.

I registered for my Spring 2011 classes today. I am kind of excited to be taking 2 spanish classes. I am excited for Studies in Fiction because they do Interview with the Vampire. However, I am not so excited to be taking ANOTHER effing journalism class. My major is english not journalism! So I don't understand why I need all these journalism classes for my major! If I wasn't already so far into my major... I am thinking very hard about dropping my English:PR major and going with Spanish. At this point, though, I might as well just stick with the English but then do a double major with Spanish as well. Also, I am not too excited about the Poetry class I am signed up for. I already took it a year ago, but I never showed up for class, so I failed it, and now I am having to retake it. But it was really boring when I took it last time. This time it is with the same teacher, so I assume it will be no better this time around.

Is it odd that the classes I am most excited about are Spanish? Shouldn't that tell me something?

Too bad I didn't decide to give up on the English major and declare a Spanish major 3 years ago. That would have saved me a lot of time, trouble and money. Oh well. I'll just stay in school for the rest of my life, getting various degrees that I would probably never do anything with on most of them. Unless they were all language degrees, then I could be a really good translator/interpreter. I think that would be a good job, though, translating. It wouldn't be outrageously hard, I wouldn't think.

Well this Spanish class that I am in now uses the Vistas book. We have used this book for this class and the two previous classes. So I am just wondering what is coming next. This was a $100 book. So I am not looking forward to another one of those!
