I.i When Brabrantio’s daughter leaves the house at night, Iago and Rodrigo tattle on her.
Iago: “I am one, sir, that comes to tell you your daughter and the Moor are now making the beast with two backs.” (118-120)
I.ii Brabantio is convinced his daughter did not leave willingly and orders Othello to jail.
Brabantio: “Damned as thou art, thou hast enchanted her!” (64)
I.iii Desdemona tells her father that she chose Othello.
Desdemona: “And so much duty as my mother showed To you, preferring you before her father, So much I challenge that I may profess Due to the Moor my lord.” (188-191)
II.i Othello announces the defeat of the Turks and is reunited with Desdemona.
Othello: “’Twere now to be most happy, for I fear My soul hath her content so absolute That not another comfort like to this Succeeds in unknown fate.” (189-192)
II.ii Othello and Desdemona’s marriage celebration is announced by Herald.
For, besides these beneficial news, it is the celebration of his nuptial.” (6-7)
II.iii Iago, Cassio and Montano celebrate until Othello breaks up a fight.
Cassio: “Oh, I have lost my reputation! I have lost the immortal part of myself, and what remains is bestial.” (257-258)
III.i Iago gets Othello out of the way so Cassio can talk to Desdemona.
Iago: “I’ll devise a mean to draw the Moor Out of the way, that your converse and business May be more free.” (39-41)
III.ii Othello asks Iago to do an errand for him.
Gentlemen: “We’ll wait upon Your Lordship.” (6)
III.iii Othello asks Iago his thoughts of Cassio.
Iago: “She did deceive her father, marrying you; And when she seemed to shake and fear your looks, She loved them most.” (218-220)
III.iv Convinced she’s unfaithful, Othello tells Desdemona of the handkerchief’s importance, but she has lost it.
Desdemona: “Believe me, I had rather have lost my purse Full of crusades; and but my noble Moor Is it true of mind and made of no such baseness As jealous creatures are, it were enough To put him to ill thinking.” (25-29)
IV.i Iago talks to Cassio about Bianca, making Othello think they discuss Desdemona.
Iago: “Did you perceive how he laughed at his vice?” (179)
IV.ii Othello discusses Desdemona and Cassio with Emilia, proclaiming her innocence.
Emilia: “I durst, my lord, to wager she is honest, Lay down my soul at stake. If you think other, Remove your thought; it doth abuse your bosom. In any wretch have put this in your head, Let heaven requite it with the serpent’s curse!” (13-17)
IV.iii Desdemona and Emilia discuss the infidelities of wives.
Emilia: “But I do think it is their husbands’ faults If wives do fall.” (89-90)
V.i Cassio stabs Rodrigo and Iago , pleasing Othello, stabs Cassio, then doesn’t admit involvement.
Iago: “Cassio hath here been set on in the dark By Rodrigo and fellows that are scaped. He’s almost slain, and Rodrigo dead.” (114-116)
V.ii In incorrect order, Othello kills Desdemona, Iago and himself and Emilia is killed by Iago.
Desdemona: “That death’s unnatural that kills for loving.” (44)
